Here are the basics. Read on for lots of photos and details.

Following are 33 photos that should give you a clear idea of the truck's condition. Many of the photos include captions that will help you make your bidding decision. I definitely welcome e-mail if you need more information.
Each photo is available with more detail. For each of the photos below, you can click "[medium]" for a browser-sized photo, or "[large]" for an extreme close-up. If you are using Internet Explorer, you'll find that it automatically reduces the extra-large photos to browser size after it loads, which defeats the whole purpose. After selecting a detailed photo, move your mouse near the lower-right corner of the image to reveal the "expand to regular size" button which will allow you to scrutinize the super-sized images.
The money shot. Notice Eddie Bauer Bronco badging. What a cool truck. View the super-size image to see a KYB Gas-A-Just Shock in there--all new shocks installed last year.
The exterior, viewed from a variety of angles.

The full-size all-terrain spare tire has about 10 miles on it and has been under that cover for the past 8 years. It matches the size, but not the brand of the main tires (Goodrich All-Terrain TA).

Let's have a look inside, shall we? The bench seat in the rear (which includes two shoulder belts) folds and tumbles forward to provide scads of cargo space. If you need more room in there, the rear bench can be removed altogether without much trouble.
The front captains' chairs have been reupholstered with all-new faux-leather. The color matches the interior and the original factory leather in the back perfectly. Don't tell anyone it's not real leather, and they'll never guess. Faux leather was chosen for durability--the factory leather got shredded in the front over the years (and was therefore replaced), but it's in perfectly decent shape in the rear: no tears.
Hop in! The new upholstry is all stitched, very high quality. I think the guys in Pasadena that did it make their real money reupholstering Bentleys.
|
A view from inside. Here you can see the extras I've thrown in. The round thingie on the dash is an altimeter, the thing to its right is a GPS, a Magellan SporTrak Map (included). More on that later.
Also worth pointing out is the little cubbiehole just to the right of the steering wheel, perfect for a cellphone. (Click on a closeup to see it.) You can also make out the very large center console. You could probably fit two loaves of bread in there and still get two super size drinks into the cupholders. |
The instrument cluster. Just under 152,000 miles and running strong. I've been a very gentle driver.
The radio. Ah yes, the radio. A Kenwood KDC-MPV619, Sirius (satellite) ready, and plays MP3 discs. Remote control included. Did I mention there's a 200W subwoofer in the back? More on that later. I am really going to miss this particular feature.
The factory-original 4WD and 4WD low-range buttons. To their left are three goodies I added. On top is the alarm indicator that flashes when the anti-theft system is armed. You can also push it and make it flash--I think they call this valet mode. Under that is the dial that controls subwoofer volume, from "zero" to "ow, my bowel". Below the subwoofer volume control is the accessory switch. Flip it on to listen to the radio while camping or parked. No keys necessary, and you can therefore leave the doors open without suffering the infernal dinging.
Close-up of the GPS and the altimeter. The GPS cradle is discreetly screwed to the dash, and I have permanently wired it with power. It's a very clean installation. Should you wish to remove the GPS (or ask me to remove it and I'll credit your purchase $50), there will be two small screw holes and a small hole through which the power cable was fed.
Close-up of the stereo. Front speakers are Eclipse two-way 6.5", and the rears are Kenwood two-way 5x7's. I'll show you the subwoofer below.
The passenger-side floormat. Note the Eddie Bauer logo. For some reason I have two identical passenger-side Eddie Bauer floormats. You can have them both. (The driver's side floormat is in decent shape, but it is a little worn and has lost the Eddie Bauer logo.) The rear passenger floormat (not shown) is in excellent condition.
The cockpit as seen from the passenger's side. The passenger side captain's chair has a little problem with the armrest--it doesn't support any weight and sort of flops down. Not a big inconvenience, and probably not hard to repair.
Another view from the right side of the truck.
Close up of the left-front tire. All the tires are about a year old (BF Goodrich All Terrain 31x10.5 R15), and have been rotated regularly. There's still plenty of tread left. You can also see that there's a manual hub instead of an automatically locking hub. I had the auto-hubs replaced with manual ones when they were acting up a couple years ago. I've always preferred manual hubs.
Here's a shot of the rear cargo area that shows where the subwoofer is mounted. There it is, bolted to the roof so as not to interfere with actual cargo. It's an Infinity Basslink, self powered, 200W, three months new.
Another view of the subwoofer, from inside the cargo area. All the wiring is hidden behind molding and under carpet all the way to the head--you'll never see it unless you look.
A third view of the subwoofer, from below. We're looking at the ceiling in the rear of the truck, with the back of the truck to our right.
The tow ball and the towing plug. An adapter is included so you can hook up to either the round kind or the square kind of hookup. Since I bought this truck in 1995, I've used it for towing once--to get some garbage to the dump.
The engine. I didn't have it steam cleaned for this shot. Sorry.
What's to say? I've been pretty good about maintaining the engine, and I'm a very gentle driver.

The radiator reservoir bracket broke years ago. I secured it with rope and it has held fast since.
The passenger side mirror got crunched during an adventure once. No other body damage was sustained. The mirror still works fine, folds fine, and the power adjustment works perfectly. But the plastic is cracked, and the mirror housing is scraped.
The paint on the hood has begun to flake. I haven't seen this anywhere else on the truck.
Years ago, I scraped the hindquarters on a pillar while squeezing out of a parking space. Paint's scratched as shown, no body damage.
Here's the sticker on the driver's door if you're interested.
