Its incredible power and importance have given rise to some interesting phenomena. For example: the Google Bomb. One of the ways Google ranks search results is by examining how many distinct web sites link to a particular page. The basic concept is that if you have a page about a Mame Box that is linked to by lots of other pages using the phrase "MAME Box", your page will be at or near the top in Google's search results. What if you had the ability to coordinate links? If you could make 10, or 100, or 1000 distinct web pages link to your page on a given topic, you might be able to dominate Google's search result for that topic. That's a Google Bomb.
