Google is the greatest search engine in the world. Maybe it's the most important site on the web. Its incredible power and importance have given rise to some interesting phenomena. For example: the Google Bomb.

One of the ways Google ranks search results is by examining how many distinct web sites link to a particular page. The basic concept is that if you have a page about a Mame Box that is linked to by lots of other pages using the phrase "MAME Box", your page will be at or near the top in Google's search results.

What if you had the ability to coordinate links? If you could make 10, or 100, or 1000 distinct web pages link to your page on a given topic, you might be able to dominate Google's search result for that topic. That's a Google Bomb.

Here are three interesting Google Bombs. Click each one and be amused by the top result.

(If you're an advertiser on the Internet, you might be interested in taking advantage of this phenomenon. Fortunately, Google is working hard to limit the effectiveness of Google-bombing advertisers.)

And here's how cool Google really is. Search for "Google bombs" to learn more about Google Bombing.

I have read this spreading all over the place, the latest one I read was someone getting revenge on an ex posting nude pictures of her as a teenager on the internet. I don't think it works when you search yet, but hey, I'll help spread it! One inch penis.
