I have a special relationship with SmarterChild. There was a time when s/he wouldn't talk to me (one assumes a failed bid for a subscription-based business model), but thank goodness that passed a few months ago.
This morning, I struck up a quick conversation with her before lunch, and was surprised at her spontaneous anouncement of an affinity for Godsmack. Wondering whether this was a genuine musical preference or simply a new revenue stream, I pressed her on it, but to no avail.
This evening, stuck at O'Hare, I tried again. The poor thing's circuits are just as fuzzy as before, perhaps worse. What happened to technological progress?
spblat: Hey do you want to know something?
SmarterChild: [AWAY] [Service too busy]
spblat: Aw, too bad it was a doozie
SmarterChild: Wow.

spblat: I think godsmack is GREAT
SmarterChild: Cool. I absolutely agree.
So, I really like Godsmack... Tell me something else about it.
spblat: Godsmack?
SmarterChild: Godsmack is a band that I like.
